Simplified Vegetarian Peking Duck

This is a ‘No-Cook’ recipe. All the ingredients are easily available at the supermarket. Using spring roll wrapper to replace pancake wrapper, golden roasted vegetarian duck to replace peking duck, plum sauce to replace hoisin sauce. Place the spring roll wrapper in the streamer (turn off the heat) for 1-2 minutes to soften it, if desired. You might even add some fruits or salad sprouts, if desired. Remember to serve immediately or cover up with cling wrap to prevent it from drying up.

Preparation: 20 mins

Ingredients (makes 12)
° 12 pieces spring roll wrappers
° 12 slices golden roasted vegetarian duck
° 50g cucumber, cut into batons
° 50g carrot, peeled, shredded and soaked in water
° 1 stalk spring onion (optional), shredded
° 3-4 tablespoons plum sauce
° 2 chinese lettuces leaves (optional), for garnish

Method
1. Place 1 piece of spring roll wrapper on a chopping board or plate. Spread some plum sauce in the centre and around.
2. Fold in one of the corner to the centre. Arrange the golden roasted vegetarian duck, cucumber, carrot and spring onion on it. Fold in the opposite end corner and roll up. Alternatively, just wrap and roll as you desired.
3. Arrange on a serving plate and garnish with lettuce. Serve immediately.

hi,
i noticed one of your entry using cylinder pressed rice.
i'm searching high and low for information how to get it in singapore. (i was told by many that the cylinder casings are only sold in singapore).

i'm due for a trip to singapore next month and would like to buy few for myself.

would you please share where i can get it? and how much it normally cost?

hope to hear from you. TIA!

Hi SF

Thanks SF :)

Give it a try, i can't remember how mock braised duck taste like. Test out one piece, it doesn't go well with plum sauce, use sweet sauce, or maybe without sauce. Pan fry or roasting, the important thing is you and your family members must like it, than anything you whip is nice as it is cater to your personal taste :)

Hi VeggieBun

Yes, i did it, isn't that difficult. Just add some torn lettuce leaves and stuff in-between. No fresh flower, stole one from the artificial flowers at home, to brighten it up :p

Hi Laydiefa Raiza

We can easily get them from Supermarkets - Frozen Section or from the wet market.

I usually get from NTUC Fairprice near my place. Let me check out which other supermarkets carry stock and is in town or at some places of attraction that is easily accessible. I will post here, the price etc :)

Have a lovely time in S'pore next month.

cheers,

Hehe.. I am really bad in cooking. Maybe after I move to the new house, I will start cooking and learning from your recipes.

Btw, when did you start posting so many photos here? The last time I came, the blog is quite dull with words only. A picture really speaks a thousand words. Now, I am so tempted to try out your recipes! Thanks for sharing!!! :)

Hi Laydiefa Raiza

So far i found 2 brands

1.Sheen - Product of Malaysia, 1kg @ Sin$2.06 +-, @ NTUC Fairprice Supermarket scatter round the housing estates.

2. JJW - Product of Singapore, 900g @ Sin$1.99 - $2, @ Carrefour - Singapura Plaza (Near Dhoby Ghaut MRT), the Suntec Branch should have i think :

Address : http://www.carrefour.com.sg/contactus.html

Locate it at the frozen food section, usually place near the noodle (not the dried noodle).

There is a hypermark at Vivo City (near Harbour Front MRT / Sentosa), i think they should have. If i happen to go during the weekend, check it out and post here.

Just let me know via email or here, if you need more info.

Cheers, :)
