Dancing Wonton Flowers ...

Thank you very much for visiting this blog. It has been close to a year since I last post ...

Cooking can be a great way to express our personality, exercise our creativity and explore new things. Feel like getting in touch with my cooking skills yesterday. Sitting quietly in my kitchen with very few ingredients, enjoying the solitude, playing with the tofu and feeling the texture of the wonton skin, having no expectations of what will turn out to be ...

And ... these little dancing wonton flowers just bloom ... 18 of them dancing gracefully on the plate.

Looking closely at them, the curve, the lightness, the flow, the soft folding of the wonton flower, it is so beautiful and each of them is so unique! Maybe, I learn to see perfection in everyone of them and all of them look lovely. I smile.

It's meditative, it's quiet and it's lovely.  Had an enjoyable time.

May you be happy any time regardless whatever you are doing right now, be it cooking, washing dishes, reading, hanging out with friends or alone enjoying the solitude ...

Mini Tofu Balls

This is not a new recipe, I just use the old recipe created in Mar 07  - Crispy Tofu Balls.

Explore old recipe … Experiment with a new presentation … Exchange ideas … new appealing dishes Evolved ... So, just be daring and start enjoying the fun.

By serving this cutie mini tofu ball wrapped in lettuce leaves, it becomes a finger food and a perfect item for parties! It gives a light and healthy appeal. A homemade special dipping sauce which can be as simple as spicy mayo sauce or mixing tomatoes and chilli sauce or change around the sauces, mixing and matching, would add a new twist to it.  Replace lettuce leaves with few julienned carrot, green mango and alfalfa, then team with green mango salad sauce, if desired.

This little cuties tofu ball can be served with Tomatoes and Herbs Sauce Spaghetti with Tomatoes and Herbs Sauce

Or add few of these tofu balls to the Spaghetti with Tomatoes Sauce Spaghetti with Tomatoes Sauce, to make a more complete meal.

Is Veg*n Food is bland and boring? Nay! We can even re-invent those Traditional Veg*n Food and make it New Style Vegetarian Cuisine.

p.s. A little secret! In fact, I didn’t purposely re-do these tofu balls, it was some left over when I used them for creating the Tofu Cabbage Roll … then I started playing with the lettuce leaves and homemade pasta tomatoes sauce I have in the kitchen with these deep-fried tofu balls …

Crispy Wonton Strip

I got this idea from the Minced Mushroom Rice @ Waterdrop Tea house in Punggol. So, I got a packet of wonton wrapper from the wet market and deep fried them. I added some of them to my Raw Veggies Bibimbap and it is awesome.

Cooking time: 10 mins, Total time: 10 mins

Ingredients (serves 2)
° 24 pieces wonton wrapper, cut into 4 or 5 sections
° oil, for deep-frying

Method
1. Heat oil in a deep-fryer or wok and fry in batches until golden yellow.
2. Remove the wonton strip with a slotted spoon. Drain well on kitchen paper and serve as soon as possible to ensure they remain crispy.

Tip
1. Put wontons strip in oven or microwave for 1-2 minutes if they lose their crispiness.

Asparagus Wrap

Asparagus Wrap - It looks appealing and kids might love it! Just wrap one or few stalks of Asparagus with Spring Roll Pastry Skin and seal it with water (I used mashed tofu left over from my wonton). No need any seasoning.

Next, just deep-fry it and then served with any chilli sauce you prefer or veg*n mayo or special homemade mayo with curry powder.

This is my first try, I should have left a small bit of Asparagus, so it will not be ‘bending’ after a while.
